Maxguard MB63-1 MCBs: variants, order codes and where to buy them in Malaysia
Maxguard’s MB63-1 is a 6kA miniature circuit breaker sold under a single family name across 1-, 2-, 3- and 4-pole versions. The reason it’s worth reading up on before you buy is that “MB63-1” alone doesn’t tell you which breaker you’ll get: the amperage, the pole count and the trip curve are all packed into a catalogue number, and the family doesn’t offer the same ratings at every pole count.
Reading the order code
Every MB63-1 catalogue number follows the same shape: M + poles + current + curve + 6.
The current field is always two digits, padded with a leading zero below 10 amps. So M101C6 is 1 pole, 1 amp, C curve, 6kA. M106C6 is the 1-pole 6A C-curve, M116C6 is the 1-pole 16A C-curve, M132B6 is a 1-pole 32A B-curve device and M216C6 is the 2-pole 16A C-curve. Once you’ve seen two or three, you can decode almost any of them at a glance.
Two things trip people up:
- Don’t drop the leading zero. 1A is
M101B6/M101C6, notM11B6. 6A isM106B6, 10A isM110B6, 63A isM163B6. - The trailing 6 is the breaking capacity — 6kA — not the amperage. Don’t read
M116C6(16A) as a 6-amp device.
The catalogue prints only B and C curves for this family, so a code identifies its curve: M116B6 and M116C6 are the B- and C-curve versions of the 1-pole 16A device. If a listing claims a D curve on an MB63-1, check it against the device label — the catalogue doesn’t print one.
Not every pole size covers every rating
This is the part that catches people out. The catalogue’s four order tables don’t have the same rating span:
| Poles | Width | Ratings offered |
|---|---|---|
| 1P | 18mm (1 module) | 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 10, 16, 20, 25, 32, 40, 50, 63A |
| 2P | 36mm | 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 10, 16, 20, 25, 32, 40, 50, 63A |
| 3P | 54mm | 6, 10, 16, 20, 25, 32, 40, 50, 63A |
| 4P | 72mm | 6, 10, 16, 20, 25, 32, 40, 50, 63A |
The low end is where it narrows. A 1-, 2-, 3- or 4-amp breaker exists only as a single-pole or two-pole part. If you need a 3-pole or 4-pole device, the catalogue starts at 6A — there’s no M304B6, that pattern simply isn’t offered at that size. It’s the kind of gap that matters when someone has specified a small three-phase rating from a price list that only shows the family’s headline “1–63A”.
Each table carries both a B-curve and a C-curve column, so M325B6 and M325C6 are both real — the 3-pole 25A device in each curve.
Maxguard MB63-1 MCBs
Maxguard's 6kA miniature circuit-breaker family. The catalogue prints separate B-curve and C-curve order codes for 1-, 2-, 3- and 4-pole devices, and the rating span narrows on the multi-pole sizes: 1P and 2P run 1–63A, while 3P and 4P start at 6A. The table lists all 88 catalogue order codes.

Where to buy
Quintex Electrical Engineering & Trading in Bukit Kemuning, Shah Alam sells MB63-1 units on its own product pages, each with a dropdown of selectable amperages, and each option priced separately:
- 1-pole: 6A, 10A, 16A, 20A and 32A at RM4.20; 40A and 63A at RM9.00.
- 2-pole: the same five mid-range ratings at RM14.00; 40A and 63A at RM19.00.
- 3-pole: the same mid-range ratings at RM23.00; 40A and 63A at RM28.00.
The same 40A/63A step-up appears on every pole count, so on this seller’s list the higher-amperage devices cost more than the mid-range ones. These are listed reference prices rather than a live quote — treat them as a starting point, not a fixed shelf price.
There’s a real gap in how these listings are written. The dropdowns offer a set of discrete amperages (6, 10, 16, 20, 32, 40, 63A — note this skips ratings the catalogue does print, like 1, 2, 3, 4, 25 and 50A) and none of the options name a curve. Quintex’s 1-pole listing photo happens to show a C6 device — a 6A C-curve unit — but one photo of one option doesn’t tell you which curve the other dropdown choices ship. If the curve matters for your circuit, order by the catalogue number you need (M116C6 rather than M116B6) instead of picking an amperage and assuming a curve.
For a wider route, Maxguard’s dealer list includes Actgen Industry Sdn Bhd on Jalan Seroja 39 in Taman Johor Jaya, Johor Bahru as a Johor dealer.
MB63-1 vs the F2 series
Maxguard sells a second MCB family alongside this one, the F2 series, and the practical distinctions are the breaking capacity, the curve options and the code suffix. The catalogue heads the F2 as a “10kA MCB”, and its order tables add a D-curve column, so codes like M101D10 exist there with no MB63-1 equivalent. The F2 code ends in 10 rather than 6, matching the higher breaking capacity.
There’s a discrepancy worth knowing about before you commit to the higher rating. Maxguard’s own F2 web page currently states “Rated breaking capacity (Icn): 6kA” and lists curves as “B, C” — which contradicts the catalogue’s 10kA heading and its B/C/D order tables. If the higher breaking capacity is the reason you’re choosing the F2, read the label on the actual device rather than trusting either page on its own.
The F2 repeats the same uneven rating span as the MB63-1: 1A–63A on the 1-pole and 2-pole sizes, 6A–63A on the 3-pole and 4-pole sizes.
If you’re weighing the MB63-1 against other brands, the MCB category compares MCB families across manufacturers.
