Hager IU metal DB boards in Malaysia: IU13S to IU108S, neutral bars per row, MCCB versions and prices
Hager’s IU boards are the steel “DB besi” enclosures in Hager’s Malaysian catalogue. They’re plain surface-mounted DIN-rail boxes: you fit the main switch, RCCBs, MCBs and busbars. They come in two widths, 13 modules (355mm) and 18 modules (475mm), and from one to six rows.
As of 8 October 2026, Hager Malaysia’s IU enclosures category lists 14 boards, none marked obsolete or spare part:

What the product pages say
Every IU page gives the same construction: steel, grey white (RAL 9002), IP40, IK05, protection class I, surface mounting, a single door without a lock, four conduit inlets, and neutral and earth terminal blocks. All are 115mm deep. Heights run from 275mm (one row) to 995mm (IU108S, six rows).
Class I means the steel box must be earthed, as ST’s guideline requires for exposed metal parts. The plastic golf boards are class II instead.
What the leaflet adds
Hager’s IU leaflet, linked from the product pages, gives details the pages don’t: 1.2mm sheet steel body and 1.0mm door, rectangular knock-outs, a reversible door, removable top and bottom plates, and IEC 61439-3. It also says IP41 and 110mm deep, where the product pages say IP40 and 115mm overall (with a 110mm built-in depth). Many Shopee titles copy the leaflet’s IP41. The leaflet’s dimension table gives IU65S as 680mm tall, while its own first page and the product page say 830mm, and it gives IU108S as 975 or 980mm against 995mm on the product page; go by the product page.
The leaflet lists the bars in each board:

That’s one neutral bar per row on these boards (IU52S and IU65S have four 13-way neutral bars). Separate neutral bars let each RCCB group keep its own neutrals, which matters when a house has a 30mA socket RCCB and a 100mA lighting RCCB. So a two-row IU26S or IU36S has neutral bars for two RCCB groups, and a three-row board for three.
IU54MS, IU72MS and IU90MS
These have the same rows as IU54S, IU72S and IU90S plus space for a Hager x160 three-pole MCCB incomer (16–160A), which makes each 102mm taller. They’re for larger three-phase installations; ST’s guideline requires installations above 100A to be designed by a registered consulting engineer or an ST-registered electrical contractor.
Choosing a size
In the worked example on the DB box category page, a single-phase terrace house with two RCCB groups, two water heaters and a dozen MCBs needs about 22–26 modules. IU26S (two rows of 13) is tight for that; IU36S or IU39S leaves spare ways. The 13-wide boards are 355mm across, which can matter when replacing an old board in a narrow space; check where your cables enter too, since the leaflet doesn’t give the knock-out positions.
Compared with other boards
- Hager golf is plastic, class II, IK07 and comes in flush versions; IU is steel and surface only.
- Maxguard’s metalclad boards (Maxguard DB enclosures) are IP30; at similar sizes the listed prices overlap (Maxguard DB2036E, 36 ways, RM280; Hager IU36S RM236–298). Maxguard also sells boards with the incomer and RCCB fitted.
- Schneider Malaysia’s home enclosure ranges that we checked are plastic; only its 24-module-wide PrismaSeT XS boards have a metal back and door.

The same store can price the steel IU above or below a plastic golf board: CPE listed IU36S at RM257.94 against RM339.40 for the 36-module flush golf VF218PM, but IU26S at RM224.79 against RM204.65 for the 24-module VF212PM. Focus Electrical’s Lazada prices were lower than its Shopee prices for the same boards. A listing shows what a seller advertises, not confirmed stock.
