ABB RCBOs in Malaysia: DS201, the one 10mA GSH201, and why ABB's water-heater route is usually an RCCB

An RCBO combines an MCB’s overload and short-circuit protection with an RCCB’s earth-leakage protection in one device. ABB is well known in Malaysia for its MCBs and RCCBs, but its RCBOs are much harder to find here. We found two lines in Malaysian catalogues, the DS201 and the GSH201, and only one 10mA model.

ABB’s product pages are a single global catalogue, not a Malaysian list, and ABB Malaysia’s own site returned an error every time we tried it on 8 and 9 October 2026. The table lists the 1P+N RCBO codes in the catalogue of KVC, a Malaysian distributor, as of 8 October 2026.

What’s in Malaysian catalogues

DS201, 1P+N. KVC lists 30mA Type AC in B16 and C6, C10, C16, C20, C25 and C32 (it titles the C10 “DS201 RCCB C10 AC30”); 100mA Type AC in C6, C16 and C20; and a few Type A codes (C2 and C4 at 30mA, K16 at 300mA). Read DS201 C16 AC30 as C curve, 16A, Type AC, 30mA. There’s no 10mA DS201 at KVC. The Malaysian seller ESL Trade describes the DS201 as IEC/EN 61009-1 with a 6,000A breaking capacity, in AC, A and high-immunity APR types. IEC 61009-1 on its own doesn’t say whether a device is voltage-independent.

GSH201 AC-C25/0.01, 1P+N, 25A, 10mA, Type AC. ABB order code 2TAZ220111R1254. This is the only ABB 10mA RCBO code we found in a Malaysian catalogue. We found no Malaysian document for it, so its standard part, width and behaviour on a lost neutral aren’t known here.

KVC also lists DS202, DS203NC and DS201M codes, which are 2-pole, 3P+N and higher-capacity versions outside this page.

Not on JKR’s approved list

JKR’s eMAL approves ABB MCBs and RCCBs but no ABB RCBO, as of 8 October 2026. That matters for government projects. For a house, check the ST-SIRIM label on the unit.

For a water heater

The Energy Commission requires 10mA or less on a water-heater circuit, and its water-heater guideline asks for a 2-pole RCD on single-phase circuits. The GSH201 AC-C25/0.01 is 1P+N, which some installers accept and others don’t, and it suits heaters up to about 4.46kW. ABB’s more widely stocked route in Malaysia is a 2-pole 10mA F202 RCCB, the F202 AC-25/0.01, plus an SH200 MCB of 25A or less. Our water heater guide explains the rules.

Prices in Malaysia

• GSH201, 25A: RM134.40 on the online shop of Focus Electrical Malaysia, the Kuantan-based supplier whose Chukai branch we’ve profiled. Its title says “ABB GSH201-C25 25A 1P+N 6KA RCBO TYPE C” with order code 2TAZ220111R1254, which KVC lists as the 10mA GSH201 AC-C25/0.01; the title itself doesn’t state the mA. power.ebiz (Kuala Lumpur) listed “ABB GSH201AC-C25/0.01 25A 1P+N 10mA” at RM160.20 on Shopee.
• DS201 C25 AC30: RM362.60 at HSE_Retail and Cupex Online (Selangor), both sold out.

Most other GSH201 listings we saw on Shopee, at roughly RM115–550, showed no Malaysian store location and used Chinese-market wording (“leakage protector”). We’ve treated them as likely cross-border sales, not Malaysian stock.

By comparison, the ABB RCCB route at 25A 10mA costs about RM158–233: the F202 AC-25/0.01 was RM149–220, and an SH201 6kA MCB about RM9–13. Himel’s 10mA HDB9PLE RCBO was mostly RM71.80–95.

Where to find them

• KVC lists the DS201 codes and the GSH201 AC-C25/0.01, with prices for signed-in accounts.
• Focus Electrical Malaysia’s online shop lists the GSH201-C25.
