ABB SH200 and SH200L MCBs in Malaysia: 6kA vs 4.5kA, the codes and shop prices

ABB is one of the three premium names, with Schneider and Hager, that Malaysian electricians mention first when asked for the best breaker brand. Its residential MCB line is the SH200, which ABB calls “Compact Home”. It comes in two breaking capacities: SH200 at 6kA and SH200L at 4.5kA.

ABB’s product pages are a single global catalogue, not a Malaysian list. ABB Malaysia’s own site lists official distributors by region, but it returned an error every time we tried it on 8 and 9 October 2026. The table therefore lists the SH200 and SH200L codes in the catalogue of KVC, a Malaysian distributor, as of 8 October 2026. Malaysian shops such as Focus Electrical and Quintex list the same designations.

Reading the code

Take SH201-C16:

• SH20: the SH200 line
• 1: 1 pole (2, 3 and 4 for more poles)
• L after the pole digit, as in SH201L, means the 4.5kA SH200L line
• C16: C curve, 16A

The ABB order code, such as 2CDS211001R0164, is in the table. Shops search by either.

What’s listed

• SH200 (6kA): SH201 in C6–C63 plus B6, B16 and B20; SH202 in C6–C63; SH203 in C6–C63 plus B16 and B20. KVC lists no SH204.
• SH200L (4.5kA): SH201L, SH202L and SH203L in C6–C40, plus an SH201L-B6.

The standard is IEC/EN 60898-1, the domestic MCB standard, according to the ABB text Malaysian sellers such as Interlec and EXC Electrical quote on their pages, with 6kA at 230/400V for SH200. The 4.5kA rating of SH200L is from KVC’s and Focus Electrical’s titles.

One discrepancy. That same ABB text says SH200 covers rated currents “up to 40 A”, but KVC lists SH201, SH202 and SH203 at 50A and 63A as well. Confirm a 50A or 63A SH200 with the supplier before relying on it.

Above SH200, ABB’s S200 and S200M (System pro M, 10kA for S200M) are also sold in Malaysia. Focus Electrical lists the S201M at RM35.50–41.90. They’re outside this page.

JKR approval

JKR’s eMAL MCB list includes ABB, supplier ABB Malaysia Sdn Bhd, country of manufacture China. Approved models include SH201, SH202, SH203 and SH204, along with the S200 and S200M models; eMAL also approves SH201–SH204 under “MCB Type D”, although KVC lists no D-curve SH200. eMAL approval is for government projects and requires IEC 60898-1.

Prices in Malaysia

As of 8 October 2026. Listings show what a seller advertises, not stock.

So a 6kA ABB pole costs about RM1–3 more than a 4.5kA one, and roughly the same as a budget-brand MCB. A Himel 6kA HDB3wHN 1P was RM5.81–10.37 at one Selangor store. Many SH201 listings on Shopee come from overseas stores, often titled “PLN” or “SNI” for Indonesia’s utility and standard. Those are cross-border sales, not local stock.

• KVC lists all the codes in the table, with prices for signed-in accounts.
