Ingram Micro Malaysia (Petaling Jaya): APC UPS and rack power for resellers

Ingram Micro Malaysia’s head office is on the fourth floor of Wisma Academy in Petaling Jaya, and it’s the address to know if you’re trying to buy APC gear at wholesale rather than retail. Ingram Micro is one of the world’s largest technology distributors: it buys in bulk from manufacturers and sells on to IT resellers, system integrators and solution providers, who then sell to the public. Schneider Electric lists this branch in its published APC distributor directory for Malaysia, alongside MCL and DCD Distribution.

That distinction matters when you’re sourcing a UPS — an uninterruptible power supply that keeps servers and network gear alive through a brownout or a sudden cut. Ingram Micro is not a walk-in shop, and the company states plainly that it does not open accounts for end-users. Buying from them means being a registered business with an account, and the ordering route is the IMOnline trade portal or a sales enquiry. If you need one unit for your own office or home, the practical path runs through a reseller who already holds an Ingram Micro account.

What they distribute

The APC by Schneider Electric line Ingram Micro carries covers the infrastructure side of IT rather than home-office gadgets. Their Malaysian APC vendor page features the Smart-UPS On-Line SRT family alongside APC’s rack enclosures:

• The SRTL1000RMXLI is the UPS pictured on that page — a 1000VA/900W double-conversion rackmount unit. “Double-conversion” means the UPS continuously regenerates clean AC power instead of switching over when mains fails, so there’s no transfer gap at all. That’s the property that gets these units specified for servers, storage, voice and data networks, and medical or lab equipment. It’s a 3U chassis, rack- or tower-convertible, and it ships with a rail kit.
• There’s a lead-acid sibling worth not confusing it with: SRT1000RMXLI is 1000VA/1000W in a 2U chassis, with six C13 outlets. Similar names and the same on-line topology, but different form factor, different battery chemistry and different outlet count — check the exact suffix before quoting a part number.
• The APC NetShelter WX 6U low-profile wall-mount cabinet (AR106V/AR106VI) appears on the same page, for edge and network installations where a full rack won’t fit.

That’s the catalogue the manufacturer publishes through wholesale channels. It’s what can be ordered, not what’s sitting on a floor today — availability moves, so a specific model and lead time is a sales-enquiry question.

Buying through Ingram Micro

If you already run a reseller business, an account starts with a customer or WebID application, and online portal applications go to their credit team, at Credit dot MY at ingrammicro.com. Once you’re in, IMOnline (my.ingrammicro.com) is where you check trade pricing and place orders, while their cloud marketplace handles subscription-style products separately.

Otherwise, the company asks that initial phone contact be made to the head office main line at 03-7952 8188 rather than to a branch directly. General enquiries go to [email protected] and sales enquiries to [email protected]. If you want to know whether a particular APC model is orderable and what it costs, those are the right people to ask.

The wider branch network

Ingram Micro runs offices across Malaysia with sales staff in each — Johor Bahru, Penang, Kuantan, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu — plus a Petaling Jaya distribution centre at Lot 11, Jalan 225. Some addresses in Schneider’s APC directory have gone stale: Johor Bahru is now at INFINITY8 in Taman Ekoflora rather than Taman Molek, and Penang has moved to Queens Residences Q2 in Bayan Lepas instead of Menara Perdana on Jalan Gurdwara. Kuching sits at Galacity on Jalan Tun Jugah, and Kota Kinabalu is at KK Times Square. These are branch and sales offices that coordinate orders for their region — each keeps its own local team and contacts rather than sharing the head office’s.
