Finding an electrician in Penang for house work

Most electricians who take house jobs in Penang work from a phone number, not a shop. Many have a Google Maps listing with a pin at their home or a market stall, a few customer photos and dozens of reviews, and no website. That makes them findable if you know what to look for, and easy to confuse with the switchboard makers, factory contractors and appliance-repair shops that come up for the same search.

This guide starts with ten Penang electricians with Google Maps listings who clearly take household jobs, five on the island and five in Seberang Perai. After each area’s five come more local options whose evidence is thinner, older or mixed: 14 in all. Then five electricians we found through their ads in Facebook groups, and an EV-charger installer. For each you get the number, what its photos, reviews or ads show it doing, how much weight its reviews can bear, whether its name or number turns up in Suruhanjaya Tenaga’s (ST, the Energy Commission) register, and how recent the evidence is. Further down: how to check someone in ST’s register, and what a DB (distribution board, the fuse box) change, new points and a three-phase upgrade have been costing.

What this list is, and isn’t

We searched Google Maps across 15 Penang areas, island and mainland, in English, Malay and Chinese, and went through about 575 listings that looked like electricians or electrical contractors. Roughly half look like electrical contractors, but many of those only do industrial, commercial or substation work, and about a hundred have no reviews at all. We picked the ten whose reviews and photos most clearly show house work, with recent activity where we could find it, and spread across the state. A second pass, aimed at Balik Pulau, Tanjung Bungah, Perai and Seberang Jaya where the first found nobody, added the 14 further options and an EV-charger installer. It’s a starting list, not a directory.

Separately, five electricians and small outfits advertising Penang work in the national Pendawai Elektrik Facebook group are listed further down, with what their ads offer. None of the numbers for the 25 businesses on the map below turned up in the electrical group posts we have collected.

Two gaps to know about. First, we haven’t yet collected posts from Penang’s own residents’ or renovation groups, so electricians who advertise only there aren’t here. Second, the options for Balik Pulau, Tanjung Bungah and Perai are thin, and we still found no house electrician based in Seberang Jaya; see below for who covers those areas.

Everything about services, areas and prices here is what each business shows or advertises, or what its reviewers say, as we found it in October 2026. We haven’t checked any of their work. Each name links to a profile with the photos and reviews behind it. If you run one of these and something is wrong, or you’d rather not be listed, contact us.

With thinner evidence: Electrical maghi, MPANDIAN, IJM Mega Ampere, Ye Tat, Wireman Repair Bayan Lepas (advertised; no job photos). From Facebook-group ads: Embunau (installing, changing or moving DBs), Wiring Rumah Penang (DB box changes), Adam Penang (a faulty RCCB and burnt DB wiring replaced), the 019-463 1783 advertiser (DB installation on its flyer)
Rewiring and new pointsJJ Electrician (photos of a house being rewired with chased conduits), ANA Solution (houses rewired in surface conduit, but no activity since August 2025), Mr Goh (wiring and rewiring, extra sockets), Azhar (new wiring and extra points), Zul Hakim (surface and concealed wiring, full-house rewiring, extra sockets), Alhafiz (reviewers’ wiring jobs), Letrik Dass (electrical work on house renovations). With thinner evidence: Ye Tat, Electrical maghi, JWC Star Light, MPANDIAN, Mizi (photos from 2014 to 2016), Wireman Repair Bayan Lepas (advertised; no job photos). From Facebook-group ads, for tripping but none advertising night call-outs: Embunau, Adam Penang (house trips, a faulty RCCB), the 019-463 1783 advertiser (troubleshooting)
Single- to three-phase upgrade or TNB meterTNB’s application has to go through a registered electrical contractor. Six businesses here are on ST’s contractor register: Letrik Dass and IR BP Services on the island, Ye Tat, Koh Electrical Contractor and K.M.E. Power Electric on the mainland, and the EV-charger installer SAY Electric. Of those, Letrik Dass and Ye Tat show house wiring work and SAY Electric home charger installs; ask the others whether they take house jobs. IJM Mega Ampere’s photos include a three-phase DB and a TNB meter board, but we didn’t find its name or number in the register; ask who will submit the TNB application. Azhar’s flyer lists meter applications, but we didn’t find it in the register; ask who will submit the application. Wiring Rumah Penang (Facebook ads) also advertises TNB meter applications and posted photos of a three-phase meter board, but wasn’t found in ST’s register; the 019-463 1783 advertiser offers three-phase house wiring but doesn’t mention TNB applications
EV chargerSAY Electric in Bayan Lepas (home and commercial chargers, with published package prices); see EV chargers below
Aircond as wellLetrik Dass, KC Electrical, Azhar; Zul Hakim’s listing name mentions aircond. With thinner evidence: AEA (mainly aircond), IR BP Services (a reviewer mentions electrical and aircond work); MPANDIAN’s name mentions aircond, but its photos show none. From Facebook-group ads: the 019-463 1783 advertiser (aircond servicing and installation), Afz Vision (aircond on its flyer)
EarthingAzhar (a DB replacement with a copper earth rod), Zul Hakim (earth rods)

All of them work on site. Letrik Dass, Ye Tat and AEA have shops and a few of the registered contractors have offices, but most pins are a house, a flat, a market stall or just the listing’s location, so call or WhatsApp rather than visit.

Two notes on the lines below. Register describes what ST’s public registers (6 October 2026 list) say about that business name or phone number. It’s a credential, not a promise of workmanship or price, and “not found” only means we couldn’t match the name or number: registered wiremen are listed under their own name and phone, which can differ from a trade name. Of the main ten, only Letrik Dass matched. Reviews on Google can be bunched or padded: where several reviews were posted minutes apart, or by a relative, we say so, and a rating from a handful of reviews is weak evidence either way.

Penang island

Letrik Dass, Beach Street, George Town — profile

An electrical and aircond contractor with a shop at 72 Beach Street, near Little India. Its photos show a new DB with TemLite MCBs and RCCBs, conduit in a refurbished building and work at a public building’s porch ceiling, facade lighting and LED lighting on a playground, so it takes larger jobs too. One reviewer describes an urgent wiring fault it arranged to inspect within an hour; another, who runs house renovation projects, uses it for all their electrical work.

  • Register: LETRIK DASS is a Class C electrical contractor on ST’s register (valid to August 2030). Its mobile, 016-555 4718, is the phone ST’s competent-person register gives for a PW4 wireman in Pulau Pinang, but that record is tied to another contractor’s registration; LETRIK DASS’s own registration names a different PW4 wireman. Ask who will do and sign off the job.
  • Reviews: 4.9 from 271 on Google, the most on this page, praising fast, clean work and fair prices. But four of the five reviews Google shows were posted within an hour on 9 July 2026, one by a reviewer who says they are a relative. A January 2026 three-star review says a technician twice failed to turn up at the agreed time.
  • Contact: call 016-555 4718, or the landline 04-263 4718. Monday to Saturday, 8:30am to 6pm. Agree the time and who will come when you book.

Al-Junaid Electrician Wireman Handyman, Sungai Pinang and Jelutong — profile

An electrician and handyman who comes to homes and flats, with three Maps listings on one phone. The reviews and customer photos are of small household jobs: ceiling fans (including three DC fans in one home), downlights and ceiling lights, a water-heater shower, faulty fuses replaced and lights changed to LED. One customer photo shows work at an opened DB in a flat; we saw no rewiring, so for a DB change or new circuits, ask first.

  • Register: neither its number nor its name found.
  • Reviews: 4.9 from 106 on the main listing, plus 5.0 from 7 and from 3 on the others; the reviews Google shows on the main listing were posted March to July 2026. Reviewers call him punctual and his rates fair; one had him out on a Sunday.
  • Contact: call or message 012-477 6011. Monday to Saturday 9am to 9pm, Sunday 9am to 1pm on the main listing.

KC Electrical & Aircond Services, Air Itam — profile

An electrical and aircond service whose address is a stall at the Kampung Melayu market. Its own photos, watermarked with its name and number, show a replaced DB (EPS MCBs, a 40A 30mA RCCB and a main switch) and an instant water heater; customer photos show ceiling fans and an old board being replaced. Reviewers describe a late-night call-out, a wobbling fan balanced and an aircond moved and serviced. Its Facebook page names Tanjong Tokong, Balik Pulau, Batu Maung, Bayan Lepas, Batu Ferringhi and George Town.

  • Register: neither its number nor its name found.
  • Reviews: 5.0 from 15; the ones Google shows were posted August to October 2026. It’s a small sample, and the two reviews praising clean work and fair prices were posted two minutes apart.

JJ Electrician wireman, Bayan Lepas — profile

A house electrician whose directory description says it covers the whole island. Its own photos show walls chased for new conduit during a house rewiring; customer photos show two new DBs with EPS RCCBs and MCBs. One reviewer lost power in a condo unit at about 11pm: it restored power that night with a temporary switch, fitted a replacement the next day and didn’t charge extra for the late call. Others describe a DB box fixed and wiring faults found.

  • Register: neither its number nor its name found.
  • Reviews: 5.0 from 62, the newest five posted May to September 2026, mentioning quick responses and reasonable charges.
  • Contact: call or WhatsApp 010-386 7942. Listed as open 24 hours Monday to Saturday; WhatsApp first on Sundays. The pin isn’t a workshop.

ANA Solution Enterprise, Sungai Nibong — profile

A small wiring and plumbing business that says it serves the island and the mainland. Its Maps photos show houses rewired in black surface conduit to ceiling lights and fans, cable pulled through a roof truss and fans being fitted. Reviewers had a broken lamp replaced the same day (RM45 including the bulb, November 2024), a water-heater socket fixed and house lights repaired.

  • Still active? We found nothing after August 2025: that’s its newest Google review, and its TikTok’s newest video is from January 2025. Google hasn’t marked it closed, but ask whether it still takes jobs.
  • Register: neither its number nor its name found.
  • Reviews: 5.0 from 18, describing fast service and reasonable prices.
  • Contact: call or message 017-455 7531. Monday to Saturday, 9am to 7pm.

More on the island

These seven have fewer reviews, older or bunched evidence, or do electrical work alongside something else. They’re listed from George Town southwards, then Balik Pulau and Tanjung Bungah.

MONIIX Electrician Wireman & CCTV, Greenlane, Jelutong, call or WhatsApp 011-3535 9212. An electrician and CCTV installer listed at a residential block, open 24 hours. Reviewers describe a problem settled right after they called at night (January 2026), a 4am call answered straight away (September 2026; that reviewer would call again for any electrical issue), and a fault fixed quickly and neatly. Its own photos are mostly CCTV, network and commercial fit-out jobs, with one customer photo of a house DB, so for a DB change or new circuits, ask first.

  • Register: neither its number nor its name found.
  • Reviews: 5.0 from 11, posted December 2025 to September 2026.

Electrical maghi, Sungai Dua, Gelugor, call or WhatsApp 016-428 2017. A house electrician whose own Maps photos show a new DB recessed into a freshly hacked wall (EPS breakers with a 100mA RCCB), a three-phase supply board, a ceiling fan, a Panasonic instant water heater and a wall chased for new conduit. Reviewers praise a fast response and clean work but don’t describe a job.

  • Register: neither its number nor its name found.
  • Reviews: 5.0 from 7, six of them posted on 10 and 11 March 2025; the newest is from March 2026. That’s little to go on, so ask whether it’s taking jobs.

TrueLine Electrical & Plumbing Wireman, Sungai Dua, Gelugor, call 017-550 7285. An electrician and plumber listed on the same street as Electrical maghi, with a different number; we found nothing linking them. Reviewers describe a late-night visit (September 2026) and plumbing as well as electrical jobs. Its photos show office lighting work and a technician at a DB, plus one that appears to be a stock photo of a shop in India.

  • Register: neither its number nor its name found.
  • Reviews: 4.6 from 9, but six of the eight we could read were posted in February 2026, one with text apparently pasted from a writing tool. A one-star review from August 2026 says the technician wasn’t punctual and mixed up a slow ceiling fan’s capacitor with its remote receiver.

Wireman Repair Bayan Lepas, Teluk Kumbar, call or WhatsApp 016-523 9631, in the south-west of the island. Its Facebook page, Wireman Bayan Lepas, offers home wiring and rewiring, troubleshooting, lights and fans, and DB and MCB installation around Bayan Lepas, with posts from September 2026. We haven’t seen any of its work: its Maps photos look like stock or AI images, so ask for photos of past jobs.

  • Register: neither its number nor its name found.
  • Reviews: 5.0 from 5, June 2021 to August 2026; too few to say much.

IR BP Services, Genting, Balik Pulau, call 017-328 5908. A registered electrical contractor with an office in Genting, Balik Pulau, open Monday to Saturday; CIDB also registers it for building and civil works. Of its two written reviews, one (2020) mentions electrical and aircond work, the other (2025) experienced workers and reasonable prices. We found no job photos, so ask whether it takes small house jobs such as a DB change or tripping fault.

  • Register: IR BP SERVICES is a Class C electrical contractor on ST’s register (to June 2028), with the same phone and email as its listing.
  • Reviews: three, one of them a one-star rating without comment.

Mizi Electrical Service, Taman Nyaman Indah, Balik Pulau, call or WhatsApp 019-465 8473. A small house electrician offering renovation wiring and extra points, lights, ceiling fans and water heaters, and wiring-fault repairs across Penang. Its blog’s job photos show that work, but they date from 2014 to 2016, and its Facebook page and older directory entries place it in Bayan Lepas, so it may have moved.

  • How recent: one Google review, from October 2024, praising tidy wiring; the newest Facebook post we saw was from March 2022. Check it’s still taking jobs.
  • Register: neither its number nor its name found.

AMMAR Electrical & Air Condition (AEA), The Latitude, Tanjung Bungah, call or WhatsApp 018-299 4175. An aircond firm whose signboard and website also offer electrical wiring, lights, fans, water heaters and plug points. Nearly all its photos and reviews are about aircond work; a few photos show finished rooms with ceiling fans and downlights, and none shows a DB. If you mainly need electrical work, say what the job is and ask whether they do it themselves.

  • Register: neither its number nor its name found in ST’s registers; its CIDB registration expired in 2024.
  • Reviews: three Google listings on one number, 4.3 from 14, 5.0 from 14 and 3.3 from 12. The praise is for aircond work; the complaints include a no-show, a quotation that never came and messages ignored for months.

Seberang Perai

Mr Goh Electrical, Taman Meranti Indah, Butterworth — profile

A home electrician for the mainland, houses and condos. Its flyer lists extra sockets, lighting, wiring and rewiring, water-heater and kitchen-appliance wiring and DB box installation and tidying, with free quotations and home visits; a post in a Butterworth Facebook group adds DB upgrades, troubleshooting and commercial work. One reviewer’s house tripped: they called at 6pm and he came the next morning and explained what he checked.

  • Register: neither its number nor its name found.
  • Reviews: 5.0 from only 3 (May to August 2026), calling him experienced and careful.
  • Contact: WhatsApp or call 011-7236 8546, or its Facebook page. Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm, Saturday to 5pm.

Zul Hakim Electrical, Bertam, Kepala Batas — profile

An electrician in northern Seberang Perai with two Maps listings (Bertam and Tasek Gelugor) on one number. Its blog lists the widest range of house work on this page: fans, lights and water heaters, MCB, ELCB, RCCB and main-switch changes, extra sockets, surface and concealed wiring and full rewiring, trip faults with a free inspection, earth rods, and DB upgrades and changes. It names Kepala Batas, Bertam, Penaga, Butterworth, Tasek Gelugor, Sungai Dua, Perai, Seberang Jaya, Bukit Mertajam, Permatang Pauh, Juru and Batu Kawan. Its one review, from December 2025, says several wiremen had failed to find why the house kept tripping, and this one found and fixed it.

  • How recent: thin and dated. One review between its two listings, a blog last updated in July 2024 (so the free-inspection offer may have changed), and dated photos from late 2023. Check it’s still taking jobs.
  • Register: neither its number nor its name found.
  • Contact: call or WhatsApp 019-782 4281. Both listings say open 24 hours.

Arafat Star Enterprise, Machang Bubok, Bukit Mertajam — profile

A 24-hour electrician team working from what appears to be a house in Taman Bidara. Reviewers describe a house trip fixed, downlights and T5 lights fitted, a 20A switch replaced and neat wiring, and one had a leaking pipe above the ceiling fixed near midnight; it also does CCTV and factory work. One reviewer says the boss came with two assistants and quoted the total before starting.

  • Prices: a 1-star review from June 2026 says an evening call-out for a tripping ELCB, about 30 minutes of checking and changing it, was billed at RM340 as a midnight-emergency rate although it was just after 7pm; the reviewer paid RM250 after disputing it. Two other reviewers call its prices reasonable. Ask for the call-out and night rate before it comes.
  • Register: neither its number nor its name found.
  • Reviews: 4.9 from 143, as recent as October 2026, praising fast response, including late at night.
  • Contact: call or WhatsApp 012-526 4659. Listed as open 24 hours, every day.

Alhafiz Electrical Expert & Engineering, Kubang Semang — profile

An electrician north of Bukit Mertajam. Its own photos show a sub-board being worked on beneath two larger DBs, a small DB fitted in a cabin with surface conduit to the lights, porch ceiling wiring and a clamp meter on a breaker, along with CCTV cameras fitted to a street-lamp pole and a skylift truck on an outdoor job. Reviewers recommend it for wiring problems and broken lights and fans; one had wiring done neatly, on time and at a reasonable price. Its linked Facebook profile offers wireman services around Penang and Kedah.

  • Register: neither its number nor its name found.
  • Reviews: 5.0 from 9, posted August and September 2026.
  • Contact: call or WhatsApp 011-1146 3631. Daily, 9am to 5pm.

Azhar Electrical Service, Sungai Bakap — profile

A 24-hour electrician in south Seberang Perai. Its flyer lists new wiring and extra points, DB board installation, troubleshooting and breakdowns, meter applications, aircond service, CCTV and autogates. Its Facebook posts (2023 to early 2024, the newest we found) show a DB and sub-board replacement at a surau in Permatang Ara and a DB replacement with a copper earth rod in Jawi Jaya. It names Nibong Tebal and Simpang Ampat, plus nearby Kedah and Perak towns (Bandar Baharu, Parit Buntar, Bagan Serai).

  • Register: neither its two numbers nor its name found.
  • Reviews: 5.0 from 6 (February 2025 to July 2026); one says it answered at 3am. Two were posted two minutes apart and a 2026 review closely echoes a 2025 one, so treat the rating as a weak signal.
  • Contact: call or WhatsApp 012-321 3046, or 012-400 7843. Listed as open 24 hours.

More in Seberang Perai

These seven have fewer reviews, bunched or older evidence, or no house jobs in what we could see. They’re listed from Butterworth and Perai southwards.

DD Rich Golden Empire Electrical (Sunlite Electrical Wireman), Taman Selat, Butterworth, call 011-3385 2609. A wiring outfit whose reviewers describe wiring faults fixed at home and a water heater fitted neatly. Most of its photos are commercial jobs, such as a car showroom and an office fit-out, with a few homes. CIDB’s register gives its address in Taman Inderawasih, Perai.

  • Register: not found in ST’s registers. CIDB lists it at grade G1 for building and civil engineering, which isn’t an electrical registration.
  • Reviews: 5.0 from 9, but eight were posted within a week in November 2025, several of them long and similarly worded. Treat the rating as a weak signal.

JWC Star Light Enterprise, Taman Perai Utama, Perai, call or WhatsApp 016-480 2638. A lighting and wiring installer: its photos show surface conduit and cables dropped for new lighting points in an empty room, downlights and pendant lights in a renovated terrace house, wall, bathroom and cabinet lights, and ceiling fans. We saw no DB or breaker work, so for a DB change or tripping fault, ask whether it takes that kind of job.

  • How recent: the nine reviews we could read (of 13, all five-star) were posted between 1 and 13 October 2024, and we found nothing newer. Check it’s still taking jobs.
  • Register: neither its number nor its name found.

IJM Mega Ampere Enterprise, Mengkuang, Bukit Mertajam, call 017-570 9910. Its own photos show finished new-house interiors with downlights and ceiling fans, a surau prayer hall, large DBs including a three-phase one, and a three-phase TNB meter board. Both its reviewers (January and April 2026) call the price reasonable, and one the work fast and neat. We found nothing linking it to IJM Corporation, the construction group.

  • Register: neither its number nor its name found. For a three-phase upgrade, ask who will submit the TNB application.
  • Reviews: 5.0 from only 2.

K.M.E. Power Electric, Taman Kota Permai, Bukit Mertajam, call 04-507 5401 or 019-446 3210. A registered contractor with no photos and one review (April 2026), which says it supplies electrical equipment and installs circuits. We can’t say whether it takes house jobs; ask.

  • Register: K.M.E. POWER ELECTRIC SDN BHD is a Class C electrical contractor on ST’s register (to February 2028), under the 019 number, and ST’s competent-person register links a PW2 and a PW4 wireman to its registration. The Maps landline isn’t in the register.

MPANDIAN Electrical & Air-Condition Services, Taman Belibis, Simpang Ampat, call 018-210 1599. Its photos show a house DB in a timber cabinet with EPS breakers beside two older Merlin Gerin ones, conduit through a roof space, an instant water heater and a clamp-meter reading at a DB, alongside factory and office jobs. Reviewers since 2022 call it expert, clean and reliable, with fair charges. Despite the name, none of its photos shows aircond work.

  • Register: neither its number nor its name found.
  • Reviews: 5.0 from 16; the seven we could read run from February 2022 to April 2026, and none says much.

Koh Electrical Contractor, Taman Merak, Simpang Ampat, call 04-588 6798. A registered contractor whose signboard offers industrial wiring. It’s linked to Icon Light Center, a lighting and fan shop on Jalan Besar whose banner advertises its wiring installation. We found no photos or reviews of its jobs, so ask whether it takes house work.

  • Register: KOH ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR is a Class C electrical contractor on ST’s register (to November 2028), with this landline.

Ye Tat Electrical Service (藝達電器服務), Jalan Besar, Sungai Udang, near Nibong Tebal, call 010-906 2862. An electrical shop and wiring service in the far south, close to the Kedah and Perak borders. Its banner advertises wiring for new houses and factories and a team on call around the clock; a reviewer’s photos show a house being rewired, with a new DB beside a freshly chased wall.

  • Register: YE TAT ELECTRICAL SERVICE is a Class C electrical contractor on ST’s register (to January 2030), with this number: one of the few small Penang electricians registered under its own name.
  • Reviews: 5.0 from only 2, from January and April 2025.

Electricians who advertise in Facebook groups

These five are electricians and small outfits we found through their ads in Pendawai Elektrik, a national Malay-language Facebook group for wiremen and electricians, not through the Maps search above. Afz Vision and Embunau also have Maps listings, but with too few reviews to judge them by, and Adam Penang’s ad links one with no address. Each has a profile with the ads, dates and photos behind it. Services, areas and claims below are what they advertise about themselves; we haven’t checked any of their work, and none of the five advertises prices: each offers a site visit and a quote, or asks you to call. “Last seen” is the latest ad we found; we collected Pendawai Elektrik continuously to about 10 October 2026 but other groups and their own pages only in part, so it may lag.

On the register: for four of the five, none of their numbers is in ST’s registers of contractors and competent persons (6 October 2026 list), which doesn’t prove the person doing the work isn’t registered. One number is listed, but for a chargeman grade rather than a wireman; see Adam Penang below. All five work on site. Afz Vision has a signboarded unit and Embunau a shop lot under its ironwork banner, but message before going anywhere. If you run one of these and something is wrong, or you’d rather not be listed, contact us.

Electrician on 019-463 1783, Penang island (no business name), call or WhatsApp. Single- and three-phase house wiring: new wiring, lights, fans, water heaters, sockets and switches, wiring in GI conduit, and on its flyer DB installation and troubleshooting, plus plumbing and aircond servicing and installation. All four ads say Penang and nearby areas, but its 17 August ad was headed “Penang island only”, a line later ads drop (its flyer says the whole Peninsula), so ask whether it comes to the mainland. Its job photos carry phone-camera stamps from Teluk Bahang, Air Itam, Balik Pulau and George Town.

  • Register: its number not found.
  • Last seen advertising: 23 September 2026, the latest of four ads from 10 August.

Wiring Rumah Penang, Penaga, call or WhatsApp 013-717 8996. Rewiring and new wiring (concealed or in surface casing), DB box changes and TNB meter applications around Penang; an earlier ad also listed wiring points and fitting fans, lights, water heaters and exhaust fans. Its 5 March ad carries photos of a three-phase meter board being wired. They say it’s a bumiputera company registered with CIDB, without naming the company.

  • Register: neither its number nor its name found in ST’s registers, and no CIDB contractor with its phone in the part of CIDB’s register we checked. Ask for the company’s name, and who will submit a TNB application.
  • Last seen advertising: 29 March 2026, so check it’s still taking jobs.

Afz Vision Resources, Jalan Danby, Bukit Mertajam, call or WhatsApp 018-406 1046 (its flyer also gives 017-410 9832). Electrical wiring and repairs, installation, lighting, CCTV and aircond for homes and commercial premises in Penang and Kedah, with a free site visit and quote. Its TikTok has rewiring videos, including a finished job in galvanised-iron conduit, and its captions carry place tags for Tasek Gelugor and Permatang Pauh. Its one Google review, from July 2026, says the work was neat.

  • Register: neither its numbers, name nor business registration number found in ST’s registers. CIDB lists a contractor of the same name in Seberang Perai Tengah (grade G1, including mechanical and electrical categories); we haven’t confirmed it’s the same business, and CIDB registration isn’t an electrical registration.
  • Last seen advertising: 10 August 2026 on TikTok; its one Pendawai Elektrik ad was in April.

Adam Penang Elektrik Wiring, Juru, call 018-464 2918, or WhatsApp if the call isn’t answered. A new outfit (earliest post September 2026) whose posts show short repair jobs: a DB inspection in Seberang Jaya, a faulty RCCB replaced in Jelutong, burnt DB wires replaced in Butterworth, and an ELCB replaced with fluorescent fittings converted to LED in George Town. Its page offers help when the house trips, and covers Penang, Kedah and northern Perak. Every post says it offers an accredited wireman; that’s its own claim.

  • Register: 018-464 2918 is listed in ST’s competent-person register for a chargeman (Penjaga Jentera) grade B0, under a Selangor contractor’s registration. It isn’t on the register of wiremen, and a B0 certificate covers operating high-voltage installations, not wiring. Neither the number nor the name is on the contractor register. For new wiring or a DB change, ask which registered wireman will test and sign off the job.
  • Last seen advertising: 3 October 2026.

Embunau Enterprise, Taman Tangling, Simpang Ampat, call or WhatsApp 011-1178 1081. Its wiring arm advertises new wiring and house rewiring for houses and shops, lights, fans, water heaters, adding or changing sockets and switches, installing, changing or moving DBs and MCBs, and tripping faults, with a free quote and site visit. Its August 2026 ad names Sungai Bakap, Jawi, Nibong Tebal, Simpang Ampat, Alma, Bukit Mertajam, Seberang Jaya, Sungai Dua and Tasek Gelugor, says it covers the island too, and adds Parit Buntar and Bandar Baharu. The business’s shop lot, under a banner for ironwork, grilles and auto gates, is at 32 Lorong Belibis 28, but wiring is done on site.

  • Register: none of its three numbers, nor the name, found in ST’s registers. CIDB lists an EMBUNAU ENTERPRISE (grade G1, building and civil engineering) in Seberang Perai Tengah with a different phone; we haven’t confirmed it’s this business.
  • Last seen advertising: 28 August 2026, in a Butterworth group.

Gaps, EV chargers and other leads

Areas with thin or no local options. The only local options above are thin ones: IR BP Services and Mizi in Balik Pulau (with Wireman Repair in nearby Teluk Kumbar), AEA in Tanjung Bungah, and JWC Star Light and DD Rich (whose CIDB address is in Perai) for Perai. We still found no house electrician based in Seberang Jaya. Beyond those, JJ Electrician says it covers the whole island, and KC Electrical lists Balik Pulau and, near Tanjung Bungah, Tanjong Tokong and Batu Ferringhi. On the mainland, Zul Hakim lists Perai and Seberang Jaya, and Arafat Star has posted a job in Perai. Among the Facebook advertisers, the 019-463 1783 electrician posted job photos stamped Balik Pulau and Teluk Bahang, Embunau’s ads name Seberang Jaya, and Adam Penang, based in Juru near Perai, posted a DB inspection in Seberang Jaya.

EV chargers. SAY Electric in Bayan Lepas (call or WhatsApp 010-391 1800) supplies and installs wall chargers for homes and businesses in Penang, Kedah and Perak, and is a Class C contractor on ST’s register. Its website’s package page, last updated in March 2026, starts at RM1,280 for a single-phase 7 kW charger and RM1,500 for a three-phase 11 or 22 kW one. That covers the first 10 m of 6mm² cable in conduit, a 40A MCB and Type A 40A RCCB, an isolator, a distribution box, and testing; plaster-ceiling openings, concealed cable and longer runs cost extra, and the page doesn’t say whether the charger itself is included. It has 5.0 from 320 Google reviews; the ones we read describe home charger installs, the newest in October 2026. Its website currently carries a flood of unrelated gambling posts, so we link its profile instead. Whoever you use, get the quote itemised (charger, cable run, breaker and protection, and whether your supply needs upgrading); our single- vs three-phase guide explains when a home charger pushes you towards three-phase.

Other Penang businesses we’ve profiled. Deno Electrical Engineering in Juru is listed by Schneider Electric as a DIY & retailer partner, which suggests a supplier; we found nothing about whether it takes installation jobs, so ask. For parts on a labour-only job, our profiles include electrical shops such as GP Electrical in George Town, Hi Tech Electrical in Bayan Lepas and MEH Electrical & Hardware in Bukit Mertajam. In Balik Pulau town, MCL Electrical on Jalan Besar is an electrical supply shop, not an electrician, though Google Maps files it as one; its signboard shows Schneider, Hager, EPS and other brands. Its doors are mostly closed in its photos, so call 019-409 3389 before going. Hee Electrical Enterprise on Jalan Tun Sardon is another electrical shop there.

Facebook. The five above are the Penang advertisers we’ve profiled from Pendawai Elektrik; we haven’t read Penang’s own residents’ or renovation groups. A request post in your residents’ group, with your area, the job and a photo of your DB, is still worth trying; our JB guide explains how to word one and how to read “recommendations” in the comments.

Checking someone in ST’s register

ST publishes its lists of registered competent persons (wiremen, chargemen and so on) and registered electrical contractors. Pick the Pulau Pinang area office (Pejabat Kawasan), run the search (Cari) and look for the person’s name, company or phone number. A person’s entry shows the certificate grade, phone, company registration number and expiry date; a contractor’s shows its class, phone and validity. Only current registrations are listed.

  • PW2 is the wireman grade for single-phase installations, with the endorsement to test them: the usual grade for home wiring and DB work.
  • PW4 covers three-phase installations with testing, and single-phase too. PW4 holders are qualified for a house job, though many mostly do three-phase and industrial work.
  • Chargeman grades (A0, A1 and so on) are for operating and looking after installations, not a wiring grade.
  • A registered electrical contractor is a company, in classes A to D. TNB’s three-phase application has to go through one.

The register records credentials, not who wants house jobs, what they charge or whether they answer. Of the 25 on the map above, six are registered contractors, and of the five Facebook advertisers only Adam Penang’s number is listed, as a chargeman’s. That doesn’t mean nobody registered does the others’ work: a wireman can be registered under his own name and another phone, or work under someone else’s contractor registration. The reverse holds too: a registered contractor isn’t necessarily set up for house jobs, and IR BP, Koh and K.M.E. showed us none. When we tested hiring from the register alone in Johor, most wiremen didn’t reply and many were salaried staff of specialist firms. So ask the one you’re considering who will do, test and sign off the job, and check that name. Our wireman and chargeman certificate guide explains the grades in full.

What it should cost

Apart from SAY Electric’s EV-charger packages, none of the businesses here publishes a price list, and the only job prices in their reviews are the RM45 lamp replacement and the disputed RM340 ELCB call-out above. Here’s what electricians and homeowners shared in Malaysian wiring groups in 2025–2026: reported and advertised figures, not a survey, mostly from outside Penang unless marked. Distance from the DB, concealed versus surface wiring and cable brand all move them. Our house wiring prices guide has the detail.

JobTypical reported price
Replace a small single-phase DB, all new partsRM350–500 most common (about RM300–600; metal box about RM600)
Upsize a full DB to a two-row boardMostly RM500–900
Replace an old three-phase DB with new partsRoughly double the single-phase price; quotes of RM1,100 (with a surge arrester, plus transport) and RM1,500
Light or fan point (supply and install)RM80–130
13A socket pointRM100–200
Aircond pointRM150–380 (4mm² cable at the top end); one Penang answer in a September 2026 price thread was RM250
Water-heater pointRM180–450 advertised; one 2026 quote put a “spec” point (4mm² cable plus an RCBO) at RM580, against RM250 for a basic one. ST’s guideline calls for 4mm² cable and a 10mA RCBO
Troubleshooting a tripping houseNo consensus: single replies in a 2026 thread gave RM150–250 and RM300–800 single-phase, RM250–1,500 three-phase; parts extra
Single- to three-phase upgrade, all inMostly RM2,000–4,000, including TNB’s connection charge (RM300 overhead, RM1,250 underground); underground jobs up to RM3,000–5,000

For an EV charger, the only Penang figures we have are SAY Electric’s advertised starting prices above; its own FAQ gives slightly different ones (from RM1,200 for 7 kW, and around RM2,000 on average for three-phase). That’s one installer’s offer, not a benchmark. We also have no Penang-specific figure for night call-outs. Many of the businesses here are listed as open 24 hours, which doesn’t tell you the night rate: ask before anyone comes.

Before you agree to the job

  • Get a written, itemised quote. For a DB: the box (brand and number of ways), main switch, RCCBs and their sensitivity, MCBs and RCBOs, and whether a surge protector is included. A cheap “DB change” can be just a new cover over the old breakers. See whether you need to replace your DB.
  • Ask what the visit costs, including any night or emergency rate, and whether it’s deducted if you go ahead.
  • For tripping, describe the symptom first: when it trips, which breaker goes, whether it happens in rain. Our RCCB tripping guide explains the usual causes, so you can tell a fault-finding visit from an unnecessary rewire.
  • Check cable sizes and tests. Ask what cable each aircond and water-heater point gets (see the water heater RCBO guide), and whether insulation, RCD and earth tests are included.
  • Agree the time and who comes. Confirm the slot and the person; several listings’ reviews here include missed or late appointments.
  • Pay in stages. Agree any deposit in writing and tie payments to finished work.

For what to ask and check when hiring anyone, see our guide to hiring an electrician.
