Finding an electrician in Johor Bahru for house work
Most electricians who take house jobs in Johor Bahru don’t have a website, and many aren’t on Google Maps at all. They advertise in Facebook groups, answer request posts in residents’ groups, and work from a WhatsApp number. So the fastest route to a few quotes is usually a mix of two things: a handful of local electricians you can call today, and a request post in the right JB group.
This guide gives you both: 22 electrical businesses we found through their Google Maps listings, 13 electricians and small outfits we found through their ads in JB Facebook groups, and the groups to post in. It also covers how to check someone against Suruhanjaya Tenaga’s (ST, the Energy Commission) public register, what that check can and can’t tell you, and what changing a DB (the distribution board, or fuse box), adding points and upgrading to three-phase have been costing, so you can judge a quote.
Which business for which job
These are the 22 Johor Bahru-area electrical businesses we’ve profiled from Google Maps so far; the 13 Facebook-group advertisers further down are a separate list. It’s a starting list, not a complete directory. Going through about 140 other Google Maps listings across the JB metro, we found roughly 45 that look like electrical contractors. Thirteen of them are on this page; of the rest, about a dozen only take industrial or commercial jobs, and many have no photos or reviews to judge them by. Details, ratings and activity dates here are as we found them in October 2026; everything about services is what the business itself advertises, not something we’ve checked on a job.
They fall into rough groups. Small house-job electricians (Nurman, Izz, ZR, Zulma, JKF, AqimTerz, Wan Electrical, SP and MV Mega) work on site from a home base or small premises, and what they advertise or show is mostly household work. A&A is a small on-site electrician too, but its photos and reviews show shop wiring and DB work, so ask whether it takes house jobs. Contractor companies (SIMITOMO, G & S and YJ Power) are listed in ST’s contractor register, do commercial or project work and run from offices; they can take on bigger jobs such as a three-phase upgrade, but ask whether they’ll come out for a socket or a small DB change. Naszah, RIZQ Solution and SPE Power sit in between: registered contractors that clearly take house jobs, although RIZQ and SPE also do commercial and utility work. Trio, Tuah Rizqin, Global Tech, Mega Hani and Fong Seng are aircond, CCTV or renovation firms that also do electrical work. Cahaya S&Y is a small electrical business whose photos show supply, street-light and factory work rather than house jobs.
| Job | Businesses that advertise it |

Nurman (Kempas), Izz (Permas Jaya) and A&A (Permas Jaya) show DB work in their photos. | Rewiring, extra lights, fans, sockets and heater points | All of the above, plus SP Electrical & Mechanical (Taman Universiti), SPE Power (Tampoi), Fong Seng (Iskandar Puteri) and Global Tech (Skudai, mainly CCTV). | RCCB keeps tripping | RIZQ Solution, Nurman, Izz and ZR (reviewers describe faults found or talked through), JKF (tripping repair is its main pitch), MV Mega and Mega Hani (advertise it). | Single- to three-phase upgrade | RIZQ Solution and SPE Power (both advertise upgrades and are listed in ST’s contractor register, which TNB’s application needs), MV Mega (advertises upgrade help but wasn’t found in the register). Naszah, SIMITOMO, G & S and YJ Power are registered contractors that don’t advertise upgrades; ask. WBC (Facebook ads) advertises three-phase supply applications but wasn’t found in the register |
| New supply or TNB meter application | SPE Power, Wan Electrical, MV Mega, Fong Seng; APY Kontraktor (Facebook ads, TNB and SAJ water meter applications, not found in the register) |
| EV charger | MV Mega (its main advertised service); Lawrence Tan (Facebook ads, a three-phase package from RM2,500 in March 2026) |
| Mainly aircond or CCTV, with some electrical work | Trio Master Solutions (Iskandar Puteri), Tuah Rizqin (Tampoi), Global Tech (CCTV). Fong Seng, Mega Hani, AqimTerz, Wan Electrical, Zulma, SP, G & S and Naszah also advertise aircond work. From Facebook-group ads: Zarul (aircond and wiring together), WBC (aircond within renovation jobs) and 011-3617 1314 (aircond cleaning) |

A note on the register lines below. “Listed in ST’s register” describes what the register says about that company or phone number in its 6 October 2026 list. It’s a credential, not a promise of workmanship or price. “Not found” only means we couldn’t match the name or phone: the business may be registered under another company or number.

YJ Power, Taman Nusa Sentral — profile
An electrical contractor company, incorporated in 2024, with a business office at 114B Jalan Sentral 1. We know little about its jobs: in August 2026 it was hiring a supervisor for several project sites around JB, which points to project work. Ask whether it takes small house jobs.

Kulai and Senai
MV Mega is the only Kulai-based business here, and its main line is EV chargers. Mega Hani, Tuah Rizqin and Trio also list Kulai and Senai. (We haven’t found a strong house-job electrician based in JB city centre either; the Tampoi, Kempas and Taman Daya businesses below are the nearest.)
MV Mega Electrical Service, Taman Putri Kulai — profile

- Register: its website says it’s a licensed contractor with a “TNB certified” team, but wiremen and contractors are registered with ST, not TNB, and we didn’t find its name, business registration or phones in ST’s register. Ask for the ST registration before an upgrade or new circuit.
- Reviews and activity: 4.8 from 25 on Google, to March 2026, describing EV wallbox installs, a return visit to improve an existing charger’s wiring and a quick call-out for a house blackout. Its website was updated in August 2026.

Photos it posted on Google Maps show a pole-mounted supply box with new cabling and street-light work, and an old post mentions factory testing and commissioning. It doesn’t say which house jobs it takes.
- Register: no contractor registration found under its name or phones. The first number on its signboard is the phone ST’s register gives for a PW4 wireman registered under another company, so ask who will do and sign off the work.
- Reviews and activity: one 5-star review without text, from 2020. Its Facebook posts stop in early 2022 (a cover photo changed in 2023). Check it’s still trading.

Two Google reviewers describe house jobs, a rental conversion with new wiring in September 2026 and wiring and socket repairs in 2024.

- Reviews and activity: none that are about it; the 4.1 rating on its Maps listing belongs to the market at the same address. Its last sign of activity we found is a job advert for technicians in April 2025, so check it’s still trading.
- Contact: call or WhatsApp 012-787 1253.

Its 2022 Facebook posts include overheated wiring in the wall by a DB kept in a storeroom and an auto-reclosing RCCB fitted for a customer who travels often.
- Register: not found under its phone, email or name.
- Reviews and activity: 3.7 from 3 on Google: two text-less 5-star ratings (the latest March 2026) and a 1-star review in January 2025 saying calls were never answered. Its Facebook posts we saw are from 2022.

Izz Electrical Services, Permas Jaya — profile
A house electrician listed at 6 Jalan Permas 8/13. Its photos show a DB being rewired, socket testing, an earth rod and pit being installed, a replaced socket and a water heater point. One reviewer sent photos of a tripping house on WhatsApp; the electrician identified the problem, told him to call TNB and followed up without charging.
- Register: not found under its phone or name.
- Reviews and activity: 5.0 from 11 on Google, the ones shown posted February to July 2026.
- Contact: call 017-713 9039. Directories also list this number for a room-rental business, so say you need an electrician.
A&A Electrical Services, Permas Jaya — profile
An electrician listed at No. 16 on the same street as Izz, Jalan Permas 8/13, but a separate business with its own phone. We found no website or Facebook page; its Maps photos show a finished DB with Maxguard MCBs, a 30mA RCCB and a two-pole main breaker, new trunking, cables pulled down from a shop ceiling for rewiring, light-point wiring through a new ceiling frame, new switched sockets and a surface-mounted LED light. One reviewer says it sorted out the wiring at the reviewer’s shop, neatly and at a reasonable price.
- Register: not found under its phone or name.
- Reviews and activity: 5.0 from 2 on Google, both posted on the same day in July 2025, a small sample; we found no newer activity.
- Contact: call 013-974 5547. Listed as open 24 hours, but the address looks like a base for on-site work rather than a shop, so call first.
RIZQ Solution, Taman Kota Masai — profile
An electrical contractor that does substation and switchgear work for commercial and industrial clients and still takes household jobs. Its services page lists rewiring, moving points, three-phase load balancing and single- to three-phase upgrades.
- Register: listed in ST’s register as a class C electrical contractor under its earlier name, RIZQ Solution Enterprise (valid to April 2027), with the same WhatsApp number. The competent-person register lists a PW4 wireman and an A1 chargeman under that registration.
- Reviews and activity: 5.0 from 101 on Google, the most on this page, through 2026. Reviewers describe next-day visits booked on WhatsApp, a sparking DB fixed the morning after a late-night call and an RCCB trip traced to a neutral–earth leakage fault. A Facebook post in September 2026.
- Contact: hotline 018-768 9973 or WhatsApp 017-723 9973.
ZR Electrical Wiring, Taman Kota Masai — profile
A house-wiring business at 134 Jalan Mangga 14, covering Pasir Gudang, Kampong Skudai and JB. It lists new wiring and rewiring, DB boxes, sockets, lights, fans, water heaters, aircond points and troubleshooting. One reviewer had a DB that kept tripping: over two days it found the cause, moved and added points and ran new cable where there was leakage. Reviewers say the owner explains the fault before starting.
- Register: not found under its phones, name or registration number. An old post calls it a qualified wireman, so ask to see the ST certificate.
- Reviews and activity: 4.9 from 15 on Google, mostly 2022–2023. Its Facebook page posted in September 2026.
- Contact: call 017-271 4019 or WhatsApp 014-337 4835. Monday to Saturday, 8am to 5pm.

A second Maps listing with the same phone adds JB, Tiram, Permas Jaya and Perling.

Where else to look: the JB Facebook groups
Most people who actively want small house jobs are found in Facebook groups rather than on Google Maps. The two pools barely overlap: of the 22 businesses above, only AqimTerz turned up advertising in the electrical groups we read. Reading 2025–2026 posts in Johor and national electrical groups, we found hundreds of different phone numbers advertising electrical work in Johor. These are the public groups that worked best:
- 新山拉电佬介绍群 (“JB electrician referrals”): about 20,000 members and 10+ posts a day, with electrical ads a large share and little spam in the posts we sampled. Posts are mostly in Chinese and many are image flyers, so the number is often only in the picture.
- 新山装修(拉电群): about 11,000 members and the busiest of the three Chinese-language groups here. It mixes electrical ads with renovation, furniture and plumbing, so scroll past the noise.
- 新山装修介绍,电工,冷气,家私: small (about 1,000 members), but a large share of its recent posts were electrical offers.
- Pendawai Elektrik: the big national Malay-language wiremen’s group, with 1,400–2,000 posts a month. Search it for your area (Skudai, Kulai, Pasir Gudang, JB). Many posts are wiremen looking for jobs or helpers, but in the busier Johor request threads we read, replies carried about six phone numbers each. Wiremen here are also more often in ST’s register than in the JB Chinese groups.
- Your own residents’ group (for example Khas Penduduk Taman Universiti or KHAS Penduduk Kulai): post a request with your area, the job and a photo of your DB. One request in a Johor residents’ group drew 24 phone numbers in 11 hours.
Posting a request usually works better than scrolling ads. Say what the job is (“tukar DB single phase, 12 way”, “tambah point aircond”, “ELCB selalu trip”, ELCB being the old name for the RCCB), your taman, and ask for a WhatsApp quote.
Be wary of “recommendations” in the comments. Real, independent vouching for an electrician is rare in these groups. The most frequently recommended numbers we looked at were campaigns: one number was “recommended” in identical words by four accounts across 14 threads, and one account was recommending its own number. A recommendation counts for more when it comes from someone who describes the job they had done and doesn’t advertise that number themselves.
Electricians who advertise in JB Facebook groups
These thirteen are electricians and small outfits we found through their ads in the groups above and in JB residents’ groups, not through Google Maps. Only WBC also has a Maps listing. Each has a profile with the ads, dates and, for most, photos behind it. Services, prices and claims below are what they advertise about themselves, from their posts up to early October 2026; we haven’t checked any of their work. None of their numbers or business names turned up in ST’s register (6 October 2026 list), which, as explained below, doesn’t prove the person doing the work isn’t registered. “Last seen” is the latest ad we found in the group posts we’d collected or searched by early October 2026, so it may lag.
Most work on site from a phone number with no premises, so arrange a site visit rather than looking for a shop. If you run one of these and something is wrong, or you’d rather not be listed, contact us.
In the JB Chinese-language electrician groups
Lawrence Tan Electrical Enterprise (LTEE), WhatsApp 011-6972 9419. Most of its ads are about finding the cause of tripping and earth leakage. It also advertises DB replacement and upgrades, rewiring of older houses in surface trunking, concealed wiring for new and renovated houses, earthing, EV chargers, and shop and factory work. Its ads mostly name JB, Skudai and Iskandar Puteri, and some add Bukit Indah, Mount Austin, Permas, Masai, Kulai, Senai and Ulu Tiram. Its posts call it a licensed electrician and contractor with a nine-person team; we didn’t find it in ST’s register. Since August 2026 its posts have shown an electrical goods shop at Blok A 01-09, Jalan EJ 1/3, Taman Ehsan Jaya, but a September flyer gives an address in Taman Johor Jaya, so message before going.
- Prices: a flat inspection fee of RM250 for tripping, in posts from late March to April 2026 (not repeated later). An EV charger package for a three-phase supply from RM2,500 (March 2026), with up to 10 m of cable and RM120 a metre beyond that.
- Last seen advertising: 29 September 2026, posting less often since June.
阿豪电工服务 (Ah Hao Electrical Service), WhatsApp 018-963 2688 or 011-3521 2688. The most frequent advertiser of these thirteen, on about 180 days since January 2026. It offers lights and ceiling fans, sockets and switches, water heaters, DB installation and wiring, and exhaust fans, for homes, shops and apartments across JB, and describes itself as having more than 20 years’ experience.
- Prices: none advertised (“reasonable prices”); its ads from January to April 2026 offered a free on-site quote in JB.
- Last seen advertising: 9 October 2026.
KNG Electrical & Services, call or WhatsApp 016-778 9468 or 010-762 9468. Earth-leakage checks and DBs that trip, including calls for a DB that trips in the middle of the night, plus finding circuit faults, lights, fans, extra sockets and water heaters. Most ads since March 2026 offer a free on-site inspection in the JB area; they don’t say what it includes, so ask what the repair will cost before work starts.
- Prices: none advertised.
- Last seen advertising: 7 October 2026; it has posted several times a week since May.
Electrician on 011-3617 1314 (no business name), call or WhatsApp. Round-the-clock help when a home or shop trips or loses power, plus fans, lights and sockets. Its ads say the phone is on 24 hours and ask you to call rather than message after 11pm. Most of the photos it posts are of DB jobs. The same number advertises aircond cleaning and repair.
- Prices: none for electrical work. For aircond cleaning, its September 2026 chemical-wash price was RM130 for 1–1.5hp and RM180 for 2hp, only if you share its post; earlier lists (April and June 2026) don’t say which service they cover.
- Last seen advertising: 5 October 2026.
Electrician on 018-259 6810 (no business name), call or WhatsApp. Finding why a DB trips, DB repairs, circuit and earth-leakage checks, and installing or replacing lights, fans, sockets, switches and water heaters around JB. Besides the Chinese-language groups, it advertises in residents’ groups for Mutiara Rini, Skudai, Nusa Bestari, Bukit Indah and Perling. Its ads come from three personal accounts, so ask who will do the job.
- Prices: none advertised.
- Last seen advertising: 6 October 2026.
Shan Chuan Electrical Services, call or WhatsApp 018-250 4735. Renovation wiring for homes and shops in JB, Pontian and Kukup: new cable runs, DBs, lights, fans, plugs, water heaters, network cabling and aircond wiring, and repairs when a DB keeps tripping. Its job photos are mostly tagged with JB condos and housing areas, such as Vista Tiara, Central Park, Danga Bay Country Garden and Ekotropika Kota Masai.
- Prices: none advertised; every ad since June 2026 offers a free on-site quote.
- Last seen advertising: 14 September 2026, posting only a few days a month since June.
WBC Electrical Service, Taman Dato Chellam, Ulu Tiram, call or WhatsApp 011-1128 8195. A wiring and one-stop renovation contractor: whole-house wiring and DB installation, wiring to renovation and commercial drawings for homes, shops and factories, and applying for a three-phase supply, alongside plaster ceilings, painting, aircond and other renovation trades. If you only need electrical work, say so. It also has a Google Maps listing at its Ulu Tiram address.
- Prices: none advertised; its ads offer a free on-site quote anywhere in JB.
- Last seen advertising: 17 September 2026; it posted most in January and March 2026 and only once after early July.
Bon Construction & Renovation, call or WhatsApp 016-726 0851. Mainly a renovation business: most of its ads in 新山拉电佬介绍群 are for renovation, roof and leak repairs, water tanks and pumps and bathroom coatings, and only 15 of the 164 ads we found there are electrical (13 for wiring, 2 for home solar). Since September 2026 its wiring ad has offered wiring for homes, shops and offices: new installations, extra sockets and lights, rewiring, DB tidying, circuit repairs and CCTV and network cabling, with a free site visit and a quote after seeing the site. The wiring ad takes enquiries from any area; its other ads name JB and its outskirts. Its ads claim 25 years of renovation and wiring experience and say it does the work itself. It advertises no premises; for electrical work, ask whether it does the wiring itself or brings in a registered wireman.
- Prices: none for electrical work (“收费公道”, fair prices).
- Last seen advertising: 8 October 2026, with the wiring ad posted the same day.
LB Electrical Works, WhatsApp 016-796 1521. A wiring team whose ads offer wiring for homes, shops and factories, and installing sockets, lights, fans and DB boxes “in one go”, with a free on-site quote and advice. Its ads say it uses its own team rather than outsourcing and wires with Mega cable, and a January 2026 flyer calls it a family business with 18 years in service; these are its own claims. It runs the same few ads (in Chinese, English or both) in 新山拉电佬介绍群 and 新山装修(拉电群). It also has its own Facebook page, which lists Gelang Patah, Kangkar Skudai, Kulai and JB as service areas and posts short videos it presents as its wiring and DB-change jobs, and an Instagram account.
- Prices: none advertised; its ads offer a free on-site quote.
- Last seen advertising: 30 September 2026; it has posted two to six days a month since January.
In residents’ groups and Pendawai Elektrik
IH Electrical Service, WhatsApp or call 019-857 6960. Advertises in residents’ groups for Skudai, Taman Universiti, Mutiara Rini, Gelang Patah and Pulai, from July 2026: fans and LED lights, extra switches and sockets, installing and repairing water heaters, troubleshooting, fitting DBs, and rewiring up to whole-house wiring. The same number has also advertised house painting.
- Prices: none advertised (“harga berpatutan”).
- Last seen advertising: 6 October 2026.
Zarul Wiring Aircond Services, call or WhatsApp 013-714 7247. Aircond and wiring together: aircond installation, servicing, chemical cleaning and repair, plus house and shop wiring, repairing old wiring, extra sockets and lights, fans, water heaters and DB upgrades with new MCBs and ELCBs, around JB, with Kulai and Skudai in its hashtags. It advertised mainly in Pendawai Elektrik until mid-August 2026, and since late July in Skudai and Taman Universiti residents’ groups. An October 2026 flyer uses a second name, ZR Energy Cool Services. It isn’t ZR Electrical Wiring in Kota Masai, listed above, which has different numbers.
- Prices: none advertised (“harga berpatutan & telus”).
- Last seen advertising: 6 October 2026.
APY Kontraktor, call or WhatsApp 017-543 3214. Advertises as a “plumber dan wireman” in Skudai, Taman Universiti and Kulai residents’ groups and a JB renovation group: house wiring and extra sockets, plumbing, handling TNB electricity and SAJ water meter applications, tiling and plaster ceilings, for JB, Kulai, Senai and Kota Tinggi. Its posts carry flyers and illustrations rather than photos of its work. Our profile notes two comments under an ad on its own Facebook profile, around August 2026, complaining about it (one says it stopped answering once paid); we couldn’t verify either, and neither describes a specific job. As with anyone, get a written quote and pay in stages tied to finished work.
- Prices: none advertised (“harga berpatutan”).
- Last seen advertising: 22 September 2026.
Electrician on 011-3963 2457, Pasir Gudang (no business name), call or WhatsApp. Single- and three-phase wiring, surface wiring in PVC conduit or casing, lights, fans, sockets and water heater points, installing DBs, and finding and fixing tripping, around Pasir Gudang. It advertised in Pendawai Elektrik from April to September 2026, and the same ad appears in residents’ groups for Taman Mawar, Kota Masai and Taman Pasir Putih. About a third of its ads carry photos it presents as its own jobs, such as surface wiring in PVC conduit and DBs. Its ads mostly gave 011-3963 2456 until mid-September 2026 (one in May gave both); since 27 September they give only 011-3963 2457, so use the new number.
- Prices: none advertised.
- Last seen advertising: 30 September 2026.
Checking someone in ST’s register
ST publishes its lists of registered competent persons (wiremen, chargemen and so on) and registered electrical contractors. Pick the ST area office (Pejabat Kawasan) for your part of Johor, run the search (Cari) and look for the person’s name, company or phone number in the results. A person’s entry shows the certificate grade, phone, company registration number and expiry date; a contractor’s entry shows its class, phone, email and validity. Only currently valid registrations are listed.
What the grades mean for a house:
- PW2 is the wireman grade for single-phase installations, with the endorsement to test them: the usual grade for home wiring and DB work.
- PW4 covers three-phase installations with testing, and single-phase too. PW4 holders are qualified for your house job, but many of them mostly do three-phase and industrial work and may not want small jobs.
- Chargeman grades (A0, A1 and so on) are a separate certificate for operating and looking after electrical installations, not a wiring grade.
- A registered electrical contractor is a company, with classes from A to D. TNB’s three-phase application has to go through one.
What the register can’t tell you is just as important. It records credentials, not who wants house jobs, what they charge or whether they answer messages. In Johor, 2,638 of the 5,618 listed competent persons work for employers that aren’t electrical contractors at all: factories, hospitals and data centres. And the people who do advertise rarely match it by phone. Of 389 Johor electrical advertisers’ numbers we checked, only 4 matched the register, and none of the 459 numbers in the three JB Chinese-language groups did. Registered people often advertise under another number, and some advertisers aren’t registered.
We tested hiring from the register alone in October 2026: a shortlist of PW2 wiremen near Taman Mutiara Rini, Skudai, for a single-phase DB change. Most didn’t reply, most had no visible presence offering contract work, and many were plainly salaried staff of specialist firms. The one business that replied quoted RM3,700, against RM350–600 for a typical small DB replacement. So find people where they advertise, then use the register to check the ones you’re considering. A match is a useful signal; no match proves nothing either way. For wiring and DB work, ask who will do the testing and sign the job off, and for a three-phase upgrade, ask for the contractor’s ST registration.
What it should cost
These are prices electricians and homeowners shared in Malaysian wiring groups in 2025–2026: reported and advertised figures, not a survey, and mostly from other states (the one JB figure in the table is marked). Distance from the DB, concealed versus surface wiring and cable brand all move them. Our house wiring prices guide has the full detail.
| Job | Typical reported price |
|---|---|
| Replace a small single-phase DB, all new parts | RM350–500 most common (about RM300–600; metal box about RM600) |
| Upsize a full DB to a two-row board | Mostly RM500–900; one JB answer was RM700 |
| Replace an old three-phase DB with new parts | Roughly double the single-phase price; quotes of RM1,100 (with a surge arrester, plus transport) and RM1,500 |
| Light or fan point (supply and install) | RM80–130 |
| 13A socket point | RM100–200 |
| Aircond point | RM150–380 (4mm² cable at the top end) |
| Water-heater point | RM180–450 advertised; one 2026 quote put a “spec” point (4mm² cable plus an RCBO) at RM580, against RM250 for a basic one. ST’s guideline calls for 4mm² cable and a 10mA RCBO |
| Single- to three-phase upgrade, all in | Mostly RM2,000–4,000, including TNB’s connection charge (RM300 overhead, RM1,250 underground); underground jobs up to RM3,000–5,000 |
We don’t have a reliable benchmark yet for EV charger installation or for a tripping call-out. The only JB job prices we’ve seen advertised for them are one business’s: a flat RM250 tripping inspection (March–April 2026) and a three-phase EV charger package from RM2,500 with up to 10 m of cable (March 2026), both from Lawrence Tan, while KNG and some others advertise a free inspection or quote. So ask for the call-out or inspection charge before anyone comes, and get the charger quote itemised (charger, cable run, breaker and protection, and whether your supply needs upgrading). Our single- vs three-phase guide explains when a home charger pushes you towards three-phase.
Before you agree to the job
- Get a written, itemised quote. For a DB, that means the box (brand and number of ways), main switch, how many RCCBs and their sensitivity, MCBs and RCBOs, and whether a surge protector is included. A cheap “DB change” of RM150–220 can be just a new cover over the old breakers. See whether you need to replace your DB.
- Check cable sizes for heavy loads. Ask what size cable each aircond and water-heater point gets. One terrace-house owner paid RM1,400 for three aircond points expecting 4mm² cable and found 2.5mm² throughout. For heaters, see the water heater RCBO guide.
- For tripping, describe the symptom first: when it trips, which breaker goes, and whether it happens in rain. Our RCCB tripping guide explains the usual causes, so you can tell a fault-finding visit from an unnecessary rewire.
- Ask about tests. Ask whether insulation, RCD and earth tests are included. One wireman’s RM1,000 DB quote included a full set of them.
- Agree the deposit. Contractors in the groups ask for anything from 30% to 70% up front. Agree the quote in writing before you pay.
- Prefer recent activity. Someone who advertised this month or has recent reviews is more likely to answer than a number from an old post.
If you’re buying parts yourself for a labour-only job, the electrical shops in Taman Johor Jaya are one of JB’s densest clusters.
