Himel in Malaysia: the budget breaker brand, its MCB, RCCB and RCBO ranges, and where to buy
Himel is a budget breaker brand that many Malaysian wiremen fit routinely. In wiring groups, Himel’s price is put “di pertengahan”, about the same as Maxguard, and it’s often named in the same breath: “Kalo bajet biasa2 ambik himel, maxguard. Kalo ada bajet lebih ambik schneider, hager, abb” (on a normal budget, take Himel or Maxguard; with more budget, Schneider, Hager or ABB).
Himel is a multinational brand with one global website, himel.com, and no Malaysian product site or online Malaysian catalogue. In Malaysia it’s supplied by Desea Sdn Bhd, the supplier JKR records for Himel’s approved MCBs and RCCBs:

Stores named Himel Malaysia (Shopee) and Himel (Lazada) sell its products online, and there’s a Himel Malaysia Facebook page. We found the products through Desea’s Malaysian list price effective 1 September 2021, which a seller hosts, a Himel RCBO catalogue sheet hosted by a Malaysian wholesaler, the catalogue of the distributor KVC, JKR’s approved list, and Malaysian shop listings.
What its researched ranges are for
As of 8 October 2026:
MCBs. The HDB3wHN is the 6kA range in 1–4 poles from 6A to 63A, and the HDB9H is the 10kA range in 1–3 poles. Every code in Desea’s list and KVC’s catalogue is a C curve. Many shops also sell a cheaper HDB6s, which is on JKR’s approved list but has no full code list in Malaysian sources.
RCCBs. The HDB6VR and HDB3VR come in 2 and 4 poles, 25–100A, at 10, 30, 100 and 300mA. There’s one 10mA rating in each series, 2-pole 25A Type AC (HDB6VR225LC and HDB3VR225LC), and three Type A codes, all 30mA (HDB3VR240SA, HDB3VR263SA and HDB3VR440SA).
RCBO. The HDB9PLE is a 1P+N RCBO, 6kA, Type AC: 10mA at 16–40A in Malaysian distributor lists, and 6–40A at 10mA or 30mA in Himel’s catalogue sheet. Himel’s sheet calls it an “electronic” type and cites IEC 61009-1 only, so ask about voltage dependence if your installer cares. It’s the Himel water-heater option you’ll most often see in shops, usually listed as “2 pole” although it’s 1P+N. Listings also show another Himel RCBO series, HDB3LE, which we haven’t researched.

What Malaysian electricians say
Himel sits in the budget mainstream with Maxguard and EPS in group threads. One commenter listed it among the branded options that are cheap enough to buy anyway (“maxguard, EPS, Himel”), and one homeowner said both of their distribution boards use Himel MCBs and RCCBs throughout and worked well through lightning. We found far fewer opinions on Himel than on Maxguard or Schneider, and none of them are product tests. JKR’s Electrical Material Approved List (eMAL) for government projects includes Himel RCCBs (models HDB6VR and HDB3VR) and MCBs (HDB9N, HDB6s and HDB3wHN), recorded as made in China. No Himel RCBO is on it.

- Electrical shops we’ve profiled that carry Himel include Samajaya Elec Trading in Kuala Lumpur, which has Himel MCB and RCCB pages including a Type A RCCB; Energy Option in Semenyih, with HDB6VR and HDB9PLE series pages; Nanyang Elec in Kepong; Synoview Electric in Johor Jaya; Advance Trading and Alt-Tech Electrical in Penang; MEH Electrical Hardware in Kulim; and SWE Elektrikal in Inanam and Penampang, Sabah.

- Shopee and Lazada. The Himel-named stores and many electrical stores list Himel. Berjaya Copper Electric (Selangor) lists HDB6VR RCCBs by code, from RM36.40 for a 2P 40A 100mA to RM62.55 for the 2P 25A 10mA. The 10mA HDB9PLE RCBO was mostly RM71.80–95.
Himel is among the cheapest brands at the same rating. At 2-pole 25A 10mA Type AC, a Himel HDB6VR225LC RCCB was RM50–62.55, against RM91.40 for Maxguard’s E25201N (ene2u, 6 October) and RM149–220 for ABB’s F202 AC-25/0.01. We haven’t compared the devices’ datasheets; Himel’s Malaysian sources don’t give the RCCBs’ standard or short-circuit rating.
