Schneider Acti9 iID RCCBs in Malaysia: the full list, 10mA models, Type A and Type B for EV chargers

Acti9 iID is Schneider’s higher-specification RCCB range: a residual current circuit breaker that trips when current leaks to earth. It gives no overload protection, so it always works with MCBs. As of 6 October 2026, Schneider Malaysia’s product list has 110 iID references, more than five times the Easy9 RCCB range. The extra choice is in sensitivity, residual type and current rating.

What’s on the Malaysian list

All are 2-pole (single-phase) or 4-pole (three-phase), rated 16 to 100A. Some 300mA and 500mA models are selective, meaning time-delayed so that a downstream 30mA device trips first. The Type B models have double terminals.

The amps and the milliamps measure different things. The amps (16–100A) are the current the RCCB can carry continuously. The milliamps are the rated leakage sensitivity, the standardised level it’s rated to trip at, not an exact trip point for every unit. Under the Energy Commission’s domestic guideline, the RCCB’s current rating must be at least that of the nearest breaker upstream.

10mA models for water heaters

The Energy Commission’s water-heater guideline requires leakage protection of 10mA or less on water-heater circuits, and a 2-pole RCD on a single-phase heater circuit. The iID list has four 10mA models, all 2-pole:

• A9R10216: 16A, Type AC
• A9R10225: 25A, Type AC
• A9R20225: 25A, Type A
• A9R30225: 25A, Type A-SI

At 25A, the MCB in front of the RCCB shouldn’t be rated above 25A. Under the Energy Commission’s water-heater table, that covers heaters up to about 4.46kW. The 16A model covers heaters under 2,856W. The pages we checked for A9R20225 and A9R30225 cite EN/IEC 61008-1, a 10kA conditional short-circuit current and VisiTrip/VisiSafe indicators. They don’t say whether the RCCB is voltage-dependent. Type A, and Type B for EV chargers and inverters

Type A is a reasonable step up from AC where there’s a lot of electronic equipment. Malaysia’s Energy Commission encourages it in that case but doesn’t require it in general.

Type B also detects smooth DC leakage, which inverters and EV chargers can produce. The Energy Commission’s domestic guideline encourages Type B or F where inverter equipment is used. The iID list has two Type B lines:

• B-SI: general Type B, 30–500mA, 2P and 4P;
• B-EV: described by Schneider as an RCCB “for electrical vehicle”, 30mA, at 16, 25 and 40A (2P) and 40 and 63A (4P).

The Type B pages we checked cite IEC/EN 61008-2-1 and IEC/EN 62423. Whether an EV charger needs a Type B RCCB upstream, or a Type A with the charger’s own DC detection, depends on the charger. Prices in Malaysia

Malaysian retailer Exerlon Power lists these four 30mA Type A iIDs together, marketed for EV chargers. Moving from two poles to four adds more to the price than moving from 40A to 63A: the step to 63A is RM30 on the 2-pole pair and RM80 on the 4-pole pair. These are online item prices, not delivered quotes, so re-check with the seller.

Schneider Malaysia’s August 2021 price list gives list prices before trade discounts for 29 of the 110 references. Examples:

List prices don’t rise steadily with rating or sensitivity. In 2021, the 25A 30mA A9R71225 (RM670.80) listed above both the 25A 10mA A9R10225 (RM540.30) and the 40A 30mA A9R71240 (RM317.50). A listing shows what a seller advertises, not confirmed stock. We didn’t find Malaysian listings for the Type A 10mA A9R20225 or the B-EV models in search results. Not finding a listing doesn’t mean they aren’t sold; ask a distributor for them by exact code.
