Schneider Easy9 in Malaysia: the MCB, RCCB and RCBO, and how Easy9 differs from Acti9

Easy9 is Schneider Electric’s modular range for residential and small commercial distribution boards: the breakers that clip onto the DIN rail in a typical Malaysian home DB. It’s the simpler, cheaper of Schneider’s two modular series; Acti9 is the other. An Easy9 device isn’t a like-for-like substitute for an Acti9 reference, so match the exact order code, not the series name.

We’ve researched three Easy9 families on Schneider Malaysia’s lists and Malaysian seller pages, as of 6 October 2026:

  • Easy9 MCB protects a circuit’s cable against overload and short circuit. Schneider Malaysia lists 75, all C curve, in 4.5kA, 6kA and 10kA lines.
  • Easy9 RCCB trips on earth leakage only, so it always works with MCBs.
  • Easy9 RCBO does both jobs in one 18mm module; both models on the Malaysian list are 10mA water-heater devices.

The summary below gives each family’s ratings.

No Easy9 SPD. Schneider Malaysia has a page for an Easy9 SPD range, but its Malaysian product list is empty. A Shopee store lists an Easy9 SPD code (EZ9L33620) that isn’t on that list. Schneider’s surge arrester on the Malaysian list is the Acti9 iPRD; the SPD category page explains what to look for.

Schneider Easy9 series

Schneider's Easy9 modular series for home and small-business boards as researched in Malaysia: MCBs, RCCBs and RCBOs. As of October 2026 the Malaysian lists have 75 MCBs, 20 RCCBs and 2 RCBOs, and the Easy9 SPD range has no products on the Malaysian list.

Easy9 or Acti9?

Both are on Schneider Malaysia’s lists, and the difference is mostly choice. Acti9’s lists are far larger: 429 iC60 MCBs and 110 iID RCCBs, against 75 Easy9 MCBs, 20 Easy9 RCCBs and two Easy9 RCBOs. In practice:

  • Breaking capacity. Easy9 MCBs come in 4.5, 6 and 10kA lines (EZ9F34, EZ9F56 and EZ9F51 codes). Acti9 iC60 comes as iC60N (6kA), iC60H (10kA) and iC60L (15kA). An iC60N isn’t automatically “stronger” than a 6kA Easy9; the required rating depends on the fault current where the breaker is installed. Seller listings often quote an iC60N as “10kA”, which is its industrial IEC 60947-2 figure, not the domestic rating.
  • Poles and curves. Schneider Malaysia’s Easy9 MCB list is C curve only, in 1P, 2P and 3P, with a single 4P part (4.5kA, 63A) and no 1P+N. The 10kA line also skips 25A and 50A. iC60’s Malaysian list has 1P to 4P, 1P+N versions, B, C and D curves, and K, Z and MA curves on iC60L.
  • Residual type. Easy9 RCCBs are Type AC apart from the one 10mA Type A model. If you need 30mA Type A, for example on a board with a lot of electronics, or Type B for an EV charger, that’s Acti9 iID.
  • 10mA for water heaters. Easy9 gives you a 2P 25A 10mA RCCB (Type AC or Type A) or a 25A or 32A 10mA Type A RCBO. The 10mA RCCBs stop at 25A, so for a 32A heater circuit the Easy9 option is the RCBO EZ9D16632. Acti9’s 10mA options include a 2-pole MCB-plus-block combination that Schneider describes as voltage independent, which Easy9 doesn’t have; the Acti9 page lists them.
  • Price. At the same rating, Easy9 lists lower. Schneider Malaysia’s August 2021 price list, before trade discounts, gives:
Device, same ratingEasy9Acti9
MCB 1P C16EZ9F56116, RM23.20iC60N A9F74116, RM38.60
MCB 2P C25EZ9F56225, RM82.20iC60N A9F74225, RM121.00
RCCB 2P 40A 30mA Type ACEZ9R36240, RM244.20iID A9R71240, RM317.50
RCCB 2P 25A 10mA Type ACEZ9R14225, RM316.20iID A9R10225, RM540.30

Each row matches on poles, current rating and curve or sensitivity, but not on everything: the EZ9R14225’s conditional short-circuit rating is 4.5kA, while the iID pages we checked state 10kA. These are 2021 list prices, not today’s shop prices; shops usually sell well below list. The Vigi iC60 page compares Schneider’s 25A 10mA water-heater routes on the same list, from the Easy9 RCBO at RM272.30 up to about RM1,336.

Buying Easy9

The family pages name Malaysian sellers with exact references: YK Electrical Supplies lists the RCCBs and RCBOs, Plus Power Solution the MCBs, RCCBs and RCBOs, and Chin Chun Hardware the MCBs and RCCBs. Most work on enquiry, so ask for the full code. Several listings call the 1P+N Easy9 RCBO “2 pole”; order it as EZ9D16625 or EZ9D16632. The Schneider brand page covers Schneider’s distributor network.

Seller pages carry only part of the Malaysian list: Chin Chun’s MCB page has 18 of the 75 codes, all 6kA. The MCB page shows which codes each seller lists and the few Easy9 MCB codes with Malaysian product pages that aren’t on the current list.
